Red Army, Red Thoughts, Red Mind

Staring out at passing trains
I watch as time sprints by,
Rumbling tracks shaking the
chair on which I prop
my tired body,
Yesterday feeling like a distant memory
as tomorrow inevitably threatens to come
too soon.
Another coffee fuels the civil war
in my head,
Followed by a sagging French
cigarette, which attempts to charm and placate
the belligerent thoughts;

The conflict reaches a level of
attrition as days of information
flood through my eyes,
Shells falling at the gates
are met by the Katyushas,
And only a motley band
stands between victory
and loss,
As the tanks roll below the lindens
set to liberate me
from the reaction in my mind.
