Beyond the Pines

You find me in
Love, naked and armoured,
Bent at the knee
beneath hills and sky,
Asking for penance
in tongues of
brash silver,
gaudy gold
and honest lead.

Here you find me,
Cold and alone,
Crushed by the weight
of the soul.
Here you find me,
Broken and beaten,
Fighting for each
sacred breath.

Here you find me,
By myself and others;
as a creature of the dark
Under the brightness of
your light,

Humbled and shamed
before that which
I hold tight
to my chest.

So, what do you think?
