Barbarossa Resumed

Fire rains upon the
dark grey streets,
Lighting the concrete jungles
with the face of death,

The twisted smile of Bandera
rises with the dust,
Shocked into the air by
stamped jackboots,

Screams pierce the hanging thickness
and my sore heart,
As men, women and children alike
hammer a path to the cover of safety,

Eastern fields again reduced
to a thick, brown mud.
