The Fall

I lost my faith in the
arms of love,
A cold embrace,

Where God and life
meant nothing
against eyes of the deepest brown;

I lost my faith between
snatched kisses,
Moments of fire that

melted the ice beneath,
Covered by the blanket of
dreams and hopes;

I lost my faith in
a bed too small
with fantasy writ large,

Praying to
no one, nowhere,
with shallow breaths;

I lost my faith
with the fall,
Dark clouds smearing

the windows,
Empty views to despair in
alone

But for the wolves.
