Frost

I wonder of the melting ice
from my perch in the park,
How it fades away despite
the bitterness of cold.

I wonder of the melting ice
why it takes warmth away
only to disappear
between the cracks,
down the hills,
across the plains.

I wonder of the melting ice
where it calls home,
so that it cannot stay
to keep me here company.

I wonder of the melting ice
why it saddens me so.
