Juneau

If I was weeping then
it was not your voice,
Echoing in the ribbed gap.

If I wept it was in silence,
Shattered by heavy pulse,
Ever fast and ever slow.

If I weep it is alone
away from the prying eyes
that know nothing in my mind.

If I am to weep I know
it is the price to be paid,
The rent claimed by love;

Costs incurred by life.
