Cauldron of Mourning

Aged thoughts fly with
remains of tobacco leaf,
Heaped on breaths that
escape in morning light,
Carrying nothingness
through a current of calm.

Metropolis stands forgotten
beyond the winds that refresh,
Waking the heated pale
burning away the last day,
Calling unheard with riot
on wheels nailed in steel.

Familiar face pulls itself
above the sheets blue and green,
Warming the grey high and
low that meets a world,
Stars shivering as they melt
over skies falling on life.

Aged thoughts fly with
remains of tobacco leaf.
