Stone Haze

Beneath the rose came
quickening pulse, heavy
with spoken words and
echoes from darkness.

Silent consent was lost
in the haze of stones
that cut knees sharp,
Broken slabs, cold grey.

Class was an alley
scheduled for frigid night,
Plans of guilt and
misattributed finger of blame.

Eventually, everything
spilled out, awkward
to source of a sorrow,
Hanging in the air like dust.

Beneath the rose came
quickening pulse, heavy
with spoken words and
echoes from darkness.
