Falling Slowly

A falling light obscures
the space between two lovers,
Unseen as night comes
to swallow the face’s glow.

Darkening sounds follow
footsteps, soon forgotten,
Echoing in alleys of
stolen kisses and nervous breaths.

The wide black fills with
grey, stretched shadows,
Bleeding cold the thoughts
unknown by evening’s warmth.

Words drop, deafened,
Hidden with shivering fires,
Behind walls unsaid,
Amongst the lonely bodies.

A falling light obscures
the past, when,
We knew love once.
And we were young.
