E14

The city stood tall above dreams
hardened in footsteps that didn’t belong.

Metal frames rose to reach the sky,
Wrapped with reflections from river wide,

Shadowing insignificant aspirations
that watched, watched, watched.

All things drowned in that light.
Leaving behind an empty love.

Cold ground opened to shafts below,
Tunnels darkened by foreign grace.

Languages narrowed down to one,
Spat in mouthpieces to buy, to sell,

To burn forgotten forests and
stop the inevitable winds.

The city stood tall above dreams
hardened in footsteps that didn’t belong.
