From the Sky

So that you will hear me
I placed my voice among
great Atlas peaks and
wailed with the words I had.

Dreams followed the bed
of empty rivers, scraping dirt,
Stumbling to the open blue
that drowned my eyes.

How the clear expanse
took its breaths with each
rising and setting, ever
emptied and filled.

Sands blew, empty,
Across roads that carved
land from howling town,
Changing light and dark.

So that you will hear me
I placed my voice among
great Atlas peaks and
wailed with the words I had.
