Escape

How will I ever get out of this labyrinth?
The endless path, from which I stray;

These struggles that weigh heavy on the heart,
dragged from the grey, yesterday, to today;

The slippery steps that aid the fall,
rising and rising and rising to a distant light;

Behind walls where prophets whisper and
blind souls stop, pressing ear to brickwork;

Nightmares passed from father to son as
sleep walks them, hand in hand, in circles;

Damn it, I mumble, as the sun hides again.
How will I ever get out of this labyrinth?
