A Figure in the Wind

Slow drops fall from the sky,
seeking to rest on the delicate form
that they had so loved from afar,
a gentle rush to their peace.

Earth shivers beneath the clouds
and holds on to the cold air.
Heavy breaths of longing that
briefly hold with the eye’s sparkle.

Distances hide all but a glimpse,
a flash of light, the brightness
turning dark with time’s passing.

Alone, thoughts now fill the rains
and emptiness of mournful tears,
a thin figure cut against the wind.
