From the Hilltops

The land is bare
save for a figure
in the distance.

Winds cuts like a
pearl-handled dagger,
irreversible.

Shivering through a coat,
discarding what
dark earth will have.

The cracks in the ground
fill with tears and rains
lost to finite time.

The land is bare
save for a figure
in the distance.
