Sad Eyes, and Knowing Smile

Your reflection flashes across
waves of heat in the day,
and rests with the night’s cool
on pillows of wild grass.

The world fades into honest green
for dreams to paint the sky,
with lazy clouds and frantic light,
as our conflicted hearts desire.

Sun falls on a distant earth
and still I dream of the voice
that carries the wind, the face,
the bright body that shivers with the stars.

I wave with the dark trees
when fragrant winds blow through.
The changing moon looks on
with sad eyes, and knowing smile.

Your reflection flashes across
waves of heat in the day,
and disappears with each step
as they yearn for the wild grass.
