Without a Voice

Silent, cool air fills
with empty words,
left unspoken and still.

Between breaths,
fingers tangle hair and
search for a voice,

forgotten, left on a page,
carrying the distances
of a world, lying in peace.

Earthen eyes flicker
with the tension of faults
and concealed cracks,

fearful of the collapse
that would follow
like a line, cut

into flesh like torments,
wracking the mind
with its uncertain love.

A fresh breeze pulls
these silent dreams
across the room,

waiting as they fall
to unhearing floor
before departing.

Silent, cool air fills
with empty words,
left unspoken and still,

without a voice.
