Cracks in a Painted Wall

Uninvited thoughts came to stay
beneath the surface of borders,
lingering locks on the gates
that seal out changing winds.

A light drizzle falls through
cracks in the painted wall and
is absorbed by porous bricks
that yearn to breathe free.

Fear lines up with hate along
parapets on high, looking out
at the night for an other.
For different. For changing colours.

Uninvited thoughts came to stay
beneath the surface of borders.
No people are illegal.
Times are going to change.
