When blood meets soil

Black shadows splash against the wall
and pool with dirt on the ground.
Darkness consumes forgotten corners
where only echoes of howls are heard.

Light drowns where sun meets the horizon,
extinguished in the sorrow of night.
Silence spreads across rooftops until
cold falls over ramshackle streets.

Blood meets soil as fires turn to rage.
Sudden, the still air breaks with fear.
Shrieks and cries fill house by house
until none are left untouched by pain.

Darkness consumes forgotten corners
where only echoes of howls are heard.
Black shadows splash against the wall
and pool with dirt on the ground.
