Autumn has come and I remember
you as you were in the last.
In your eyes the night was infinite.
Damp, dark streets echoed with your smile.
Light clung to the sound of words
that fell from our shivering lips.
Stars that shone like awe and thirst.
Pale flowers from my twisted heart.
But I feel your absence in the
faces of this grey, tiring day.
Clouds pass by and pay no notice
to the petals as they drown in puddles.
Leaves turn and wait their turn
to fall at my mournful feet.
Autumn has come and I remember.
Damp, dark streets echo with your smile.
