Stars and Moon by the Thames

After the cold rains, a clear winter night.
On painted black are gleaming jewels.
Heaven’s eternal river spills out on to
dark pools on the path at your feet.
Reflections, precious stones pulled from
white gold necklace; a mirror rises above.
Day’s glow fades as the clock drips,
fainter as night’s call sounds.
